Hello Readers. Welcome to my blog.
Today, a child who graduates from school with a mastery of essential skills and knowledge is prepared to compete in te global marketplace, with numberous paths of opportunity available to lead a successful life. But for those who fail in our educational system, the reality is that there are virtually no paths of opportunity.
The current school dropout rate in the U.S. is over 25 percent. Far too high! The future pathway for dropouts looks quite dismal and leads to poverty. Dropouts on average earn about $12,000 per year. This is nearly 50 percent less than those who have a high school diploma. Additionally, dropouts are 50 percent less likely to have a job that offers a pension plan or health insurance.
When a child hears these facts from their future employers, it takes on more significance. In turn it helps the teacher do a better job of motivating students to perform. This is why school-business partnerships have become essential.
